PORTLAND — Amjambo Africa!, a monthly free newspaper for and about immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa, is now available in Maine.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, the paper’s launch will be celebrated at the Immigrant Welcome Center, 24 Preble St., where the public is invited to meet publisher Georges Budagu Makoko and managing editor Kathreen Harrison.

The paper will initially be published in English, French, Swahili, and Kinyarwanda, according to a press release, and could include more languages in the future. It will be available from Scarborough to Waterville.

Amjambo Africa! intends to focus on improving communications between Mainers and new arrivals, and is published by the nonprofit Ladder to the Moon Network.
