Scarborough company marking 50th year in business

Now in the third generation of ownership, Beauregard Equipment Inc. is celebrating its silver anniversary this weekend at 14 Gibson Road in Scarborough.

The exclusive Case Construction equipment dealer in Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire is marking 50 years in business by hosting a Rodeo & Open House on Saturday, April 7, featuring a rodeo tournament and price reductions. The anniversary event will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include refreshments and a free barbecue. 

BEI is owned and operated by brothers Carl and John Beauregard, who bought the business from their parents Bob and Helen back in 1993. John and Carl’s grandfather opened Charleston Garage, a Case dealership in northern Vermont, in 1958, and 10 years later their father, Bob, opened Beauregard Equipment.

“The story of how our father built this business is one we take a lot of pride in,” says Carl Beauregard. “He saw a problem that needed solving and he tackled it.”

Back in the 1960s, when Fed Ex and overnight delivery were unheard of, a large construction company in Burlington, Vermont, called their grandfather’s shop 100 miles away for a part they desperately needed and no one else seemed to have. Bob drove the part to Burlington for a 6 a.m. delivery the next day. The appreciative customer, through word of mouth, created such a demand for his services in the greater Burlington area that Bob decided to take a risk, move the family to a new city, and start a business.

Fifty years later, Beauregard Equipment has four branches in the tri-state area employing over 50 people and they continue to grow.

Hires, promotions, appointments

Gary Bergeron of Yarmouth, who works at Morgan Stanley in the firm’s Wealth Management office in Portland, has been promoted to first vice president, Portfolio Management director. Steve Marsanskis has been promoted to first vice president.

Nearly 17 years after he left radio sales at WBLM/WCYY in 2001, Matt Barnard has returned to broadcast – this time at The Portland Radio Group (WPOR, Coast 93.1, WGAN, WCLZ, WZAN, Rewind 100.9, WBAE).

The Maine Democratic Party has hired veteran campaign organizer Sam Kraus as field director for the 2018 campaign season. Kraus served as Regional Organizing Director for Hillary for America in Ohio. 

PDT Architects has hired Robin Z. Tannenbaum, LEED AP, a specialist in energy-efficient design, as a project manager. At PDT she is currently working on the new elementary school in Brunswick that will replace the former Jordan Acres School.
