Matthew Mazzotta’s “Shifting Tides” project over Back Cove (March 27) will offer a unique – and temporary – kinetic sculpture that also provides a community meeting place for recent and established Portland residents of diverse backgrounds. Our privately funded, temporary installations over the past three years – including Judith Hoffman’s “The American Dream” in Lincoln Park as well as last summer’s three installations – have engaged young and old. For Shifting Tides, TEMPOart is delighted to be partnering with World to Table to create a carefully planned series of programs that will open new possibilities for community connections.
Our commitment to city and state review processes means that details on the appearance and operation of Shifting Tides are not yet finalized. However, I welcome the opportunity to share those details with the Press Herald and the public as soon as possible.
