Deivi Grullon had two home runs and four RBI, and the Reading Fightin Phils pounded out 16 hits in a 12-4 Eastern League victory over the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Portland dropped 2 of 3 to Reading to finish 1-5 on its season-opening trip.

The Fightin Phils (3-4) widened a 3-2 lead with a four-run fifth inning keyed by Damek Tomscha’s two-run homer. The Sea Dogs got two back in the sixth on a home run by Esteban Quiroz before Reading pulled away.

Quiroz also hit a solo homer in the first and Cole Sturgeon added one in the third for Portland.

The Sea Dogs open their home schedule Friday night against Binghamton.

NFL: The Ravens and Bears will kick off the NFL’s preseason on Aug. 2 in the Hall of Fame game as they honor 2018 inductees Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher.

The league’s preseason schedule, announced Wednesday, continues through Aug. 31 and features eight nationally televised games, including Super Bowl champion Philadelphia’s visit to Cleveland on Aug. 23.

The Patriots will host Washington in Week 1 of the preseason, and then Philadelphia in Week 2 in a Super Bowl rematch. New England finishes the preseason with road games against Carolina and the New York Giants. Dates are yet to be announced.

Free-agent receiver Cameron Meredith will join the Saints after the Bears declined to match a two-year offer worth about $10 million that he signed with New Orleans, according to Meredith’s agent.

Chicago had until Wednesday afternoon to decide whether to keep its 2016 receiving leader, who missed all of last season with a major knee injury.

The Seahawks signed former San Francisco cornerback Dontae Johnson to help with the depth in their overhauled secondary.

The Bavarian powerhouse, which clinched its sixth consecutive Bundesliga title on Saturday, progressed to the final four of Europe’s premier competition thanks to its 2-1 win in the first leg in Spain.

Cristiano Ronaldo converted an injury-time penalty to prevent Juventus from pulling off another stunning comeback in the quarterfinals as Real Madrid advanced despite a 3-1 home loss.

The goal was enough to clinch a 4-3 aggregate win for Madrid, the two-time defending champion.

LPGA: Top-ranked Shanshan Feng birdied three of her last five holes to take the lead halfway through the first round of the Lotte Championship in Kapolei, Hawaii.

The Chinese star finished at 5-under 67 at windy Ko Olina Golf Club. Haeji Kang was alone in second, a shot back.
