BEVERLY, Mass. — Chris Gerossie broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth with a two-run triple, helping St. Joseph’s College to a 6-3 baseball win over Endicott on Tuesday.

Gerossie’s hit scored Noah McDaniel and Patrick Rauseo. Gerossie, who went 3 for 4 with three RBI, later scored on a wild pitch for the Monks (18-8).

Ben Gravel hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to give St. Joseph’s a 2-1 lead and McDaniel added two hits and two runs scored against the Seagulls (17-7).

BATES 9, HAMILTON 1: Jack Arend went 4 for 4, including a base-clearing triple, and drove in four runs as the Bobcats (9-11) cruised by the Continentals (12-12) in a nonconference game at Clinton, New York.

Southern Maine opened with a Zach Avila first-inning RBI fielder’s choice and extended its lead to 5-0 in the fifth with Arend’s triple and a sacrifice fly from Avila to score Arend.

MASS-BOSTON 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 3: Sal Frosceno hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th, scoring Danny Brown, to lift the Beacons (23-5, 7-0 LEC) over the Huskies (16-7, 5-2) in Boston.

Southern Maine tied the game at 3 in the top of the eighth after Andrew Hillier drove in Dylan Hapworth with a single.

Hiller went 3 for 4 with two RBI, and drove in Hapworth with a double in the sixth to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead, but the Beacons rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning.

USM’s Ben Lambert struck out 10 over seven innings.

SOFTBALL

SMCC SWEEPS NORTHERN ESSEX CC: Madison Eastman lined a two-run single to pace a seven-run third inning as Southern Maine CC (11-13) rolled by visiting Northern Essex CC 14-0 in five innings of the opener of a doubleheader at South Portland.

Eastman finished 2 for 3 with three RBI, and Sara Ring was 3 for 4 and scored three runs for the Seawolves.

Kristen Mackenzie held the Knights (0-6) to a pair of singles, striking out five and walking one.

In the second game, SMCC sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first and scored seven runs in a 9-0 win in five innings.

BATES SWEEPS FARMINGTON: Payton Buxton threw a no-hitter, striking out five and walking one, as the Bobcats (13-10) completed a doubleheader sweep of the Beavers (4-14), taking the second game 8-1 at Lewiston.

Alyssa Dillan reached on an error in the top of the third, then scored on a sacrifice fly from Karen Flaherty that gave Farmington its run.

Buxton went 3 for 3 with an RBI in the first game to help Bates win 9-0 in five innings.

USM SPLITS WITH UMASS-BOSTON: Southern Maine (16-13, 5-3 Little East) scored three unearned runs in the top of the eighth and survived a late rally to defeat Mass-Boston 6-5 in the opener of a Little East doubleheader at Boston.

The Beacons scored first on Alyssa Tuttle’s RBI single in the bottom of the first.

Erin Martin lined a single to drive in Tabatha Hirsh in the top of the third, but Mass-Boston (10-18, 2-4) answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to extend its lead to 3-1.

Hannah Kenney blasted a two-run homer in the sixth inning to pull the Huskies even.

After Southern Maine took a 6-3 lead, the Beacons answered with a pair of unearned runs but made the final out with the tying run on third.

Mass-Boston took the second game, 1-0.

Amber Kelly had a pair of hits for the Huskies.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 16, SOUTHERN MAINE 2: Sasha Fritts had all four of her goals and Emma Banks added her three goals in the first half to power the host Mules (8-5) to a 12-0 intermission lead as they handled the visiting Huskies (7-5) in a nonconference game at Waterville.

Colleen Fleming and Allison Irish had second-half goals for Southern Maine.

ST. JOSEPH’S 16, EMMANUEL 5: Kara Kelly scored four of her six goals in the second half as the Monks (10-3, 6-2 GNAC) rolled past the Saints (2-9, 2-7) at Standish.

TUFTS 14, BATES 9: The Jumbos (11-2, 7-1 NESCAC) used a run of five consecutive goals late in the first half to pull out to a 9-4 halftime lead and down the Bobcats (7-6, 2-6) at Medford, Massachusetts.

Dakota Adamec led all players with five goals and a pair of assists for Tufts, and Emily Games had three goals and two assists and Catherine Lawliss added a pair of goals.

Teal Otley had three goals for Bates, and Sydney Howard chipped in with two goals.

MEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 19, MAINE MARITIME 0: Charlie Lynch had three goals and a pair of assists to lead the way as the Mules (5-6) topped the Mariners (2-7) at Castine.

TUFTS 20, BATES 12: The Jumbos (11-1, 7-1 NESCAC) shut out the Bobcats (7-6, 3-5) 5-0 in the third quarter to break open a game that was tied 10-10 at halftime at Lewiston.

Ben Connelly led Tufts with four goals and an assist.

Matt Chlastawa had four goals and three assists for Bates.
