Saturday
Earth Day Cleanup at Scarborough Marsh – 9 a.m. to noon – Join Maine Audubon, Friends of Scarborough Marsh, Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and the Scarborough community for a work day, and help make our corner of the earth a better place. Groups are welcome!

Earth Day cleanup in South Portland – 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. – South Portland Land Trust leads a citywide litter cleanup. Check in and light refreshments are at Mill Creek Park.

Acadia National Park– Bar Harbor, Maine – The National Park Service opens all national parks without entrance fees April 21: First Day of National Park Week.

The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) Earth Day Work Day – Unity, Maine – from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at MOFGA’s Common Ground Education Center in Unity. Help us prepare our grounds for the upcoming growing season. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Sunday
Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine –  Museum will have seeds to plant, mud to play with, natural materials to create art with and more. Meet live animals with animal rehabilitator Josh Sparks (additional fee) and handle live caterpillars and moths with David Champlin, USM Biology professor. Throughout the day, museum will also have earthy story times, special face painting, and a collection of live honeybees, turtles, and tidepool creatures. In the afternoon, visitors can take home a seedling to plant, compliments of Hancock Lumber (while supplies last). Free with admission.

Best Dog on Earth Day – Rangeley – Rangeley Health and Wellness and the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring the Best Dog on Earth Day event, a celebration of dogs and Earth Day that includes a Fun Run/Walk (with or without your dog).

All weekend
Unity, Maine – Unity College will celebrate Earth Week with music, lectures, hands-on activities, games, and community activities that emphasize the nurturing, sustainability-oriented spirit of the founding of Unity College in 1965 and the original Earth Day in 1970.

Saturday, April 28
Earth Day Roadside Cleanup – Mount Desert Island and Trenton – 18th annual Earth Day Roadside Cleanup, always the last Saturday in April.
