The Maine Legislature has recently been deciding on whether or not to pass L.D. 912: An Act To Clarify the Scope of Practice of Certain Licensed Professionals Regarding Conversion Therapy.

Passing this bill into law would allow people within our community to feel safe to be who they are and to love whomever they love. I have had the pleasure of corresponding with the sponsor of this bill, Rep. Ryan Fecteau. He is someone who has Mainers’ best interest at heart and should be highly regarded as a champion of the people.

Conversion therapy should not be allowed to be practiced in the state of Maine, and the LGBTQ community deserves to have these protections in place. Allowing conversion therapy to be practiced in Maine could be especially harmful to youths who are discovering their sexual identities.
