The Brick Store Museum will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the armistice of World War I with its new exhibition, “From the Kennebunks to the Argonne Forest: The Great War That Changed America,” opening Saturday at 112 Main St. The exhibit will run through the end of the year. A museum members screening of the exhibition will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
In the exhibition, visitors will discover the many societal changes that America experienced before and after World War I, including race, immigration, women’s roles and growth of the military and federal government. The galleries will also feature music of the era.
In addition to the indoor exhibition, the museum will be installing the “Museum Poppy Project” in its rear courtyard. Metal poppies will honor or memorialize loved ones. Visitors can sponsor a poppy for $25, which will be named and installed in the display until November. The poppy will then be returned to the visitor to use in his own garden.
