McCrum, who led Thornton to back-to-back Class A state titles in 2014 and 2015, decided to leave Lafayette after a coaching change following his freshman season hurt his chances of getting a real opportunity to play for the Football Championship Subdivision program.

McCrum, who has three years of eligibility remaining, believes he will have a chance to step in and immediately help the Polar Bears, who haven’t won since 2015.

WRESTLING

USM: Brad Beaulieu, a four-time state champion and Maine’s all-time wins leader, is transferring from Division I Old Dominion to USM.

Beaulieu also won a New England championship for Marshwood High.
