The Hartford Yard Goats scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before the game against the Portland Sea Dogs was called because of heavy rain, giving the Yard Goats a 3-0 win in Hartford, Connecticut.

Mike Shawaryn surrendered only four hits in his four-plus innings for the Sea Dogs, striking out seven without any walks.

Portland managed just a third-inning double by Austin Rei and a pair of singles.

The Sea Dogs return home to play the Reading Fightin Phils on Friday.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Real Madrid substitute Marco Asensio scored a second-half winner on Wednesday to end Bayern Munich’s unbeaten record at home this season and give his side a 2-1 win in the first leg of their semifinal.

Joshua Kimmich put the home side in front, but Marcelo equalized before halftime against the run of play. Asensio then came on after the break and Lukas Vazquez set up the 22-year-old 12 minutes into the second half.

The result puts the two-time defending champions in a favorable position for the second leg in Madrid next Tuesday.

U.S. MEN: Teenage star Christian Pulisic will rejoin the national team for a May 28 friendly against Bolivia, his first appearance since the Americans failed to qualify for the World Cup last fall.

Dave Sarachan, the interim coach, said the 19-year-old attacker from German club Borussia Dortmund plans to report to training camp in Philadelphia following Dortmund’s friendly at Los Angeles FC on May 22. It remains undecided, however, whether Pulisic will remain with the U.S. squad for friendlies at Ireland and France in early June.
