BIDDEFORD — Donnie Tocci pitched a four-hit shutout and doubled in two runs Thursday to lead Portland to a 3-0 victory against Biddeford in an SMAA baseball game.

Tocci struck out five for the Bulldogs (6-1) against the Tigers (5-4). His double came in the seventh inning.

Vinnie Pasquali singled in a run to give Portland a 1-0 lead in the fourth.

CHEVERUS 6, BONNY EAGLE 3: Maxx St. John had a triple and three RBI, and Andrew DeGeorge drove in two runs as the Stags (3-4) defeated the Scots (4-4) at Standish.

Arlo Pike had an RBI single for Bonny Eagle, which scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to make it 3-3.

Griffin Watson collected three hits for Cheverus.

WINDHAM 1, MASSABESIC 0: Chris Naylor pitched a four-hit shutout with four strikeouts and one walk as the Eagles (6-2) beat the Mustangs (0-9) at Windham.

Tanner Bernier of Windham singled in the run in the first inning.

HERMON 6, OCEANSIDE 5: The Hawks (6-3) scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning, then held off the Mariners (7-2) at Rockland.

Keith Pomeroy and Adam Rush each singled in a run, and Kevin Johnson drove in another with a sacrifice fly in the seventh for the Hawks, who capitalized on three errors in the rally.

Titus Kaewthong had three hits, including a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh, and drove in three runs for Oceanside.

Pomeroy, Garrett Trask, Adam Rush and Nate Allain each had two hits for Hermon.

THORNTON ACADEMY 9, WESTBROOK 3: Tim Smith went 3 for 3 with two RBI and a run as the Trojans (6-2) cruised past the Blue Blazes (1-7) at Westbrook.

Kolby Lambert finished 2 for 3 with two RBI and two runs, and Brady Lambert added a hit and two RBI for Thornton.

Liam Cooledge had a hit, two RBI and a run for Westbrook, which trailed 9-0 after five innings.

DEERING 3, GORHAM 1: Luke Hill hit an RBI single in the first inning and Caleb Delano singled to drive in another run in the second as Deering (5-2) took a 2-0 lead on the way to defeating Gorham (4-3) at Gorham.

Lucas Roop of Gorham had an RBI single in the second to score Nolan Brown, who finished with two hits, including a triple.

MARANACOOK 5, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2: Jarred Schmidt had a triple and two RBI to lead the Black Bears (9-1) over the Seagulls (3-6) at Readfield.

Avery Beckwith had a double for Maranacook and also earned the win. Jackson McPhedran had a double.

SOFTBALL

SCARBOROUGH 11, PORTLAND 0: Chloe Griffin struck out 14 in a two-hitter to lift the Red Storm (9-0) past the Bulldogs (4-4) at Portland.

Isabella Dickinson had two hits, including a home run, and Samantha Carreiro tripled twice, finishing with three hits for Scarborough.

Griffin added two hits, including a home run.

MAINE GIRLS’ ACADEMY 6, WINDHAM 5: Liberty Ladd tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-run double before Elizabeth Kennedy hit a walk-off single as Maine Girls Academy/Falmouth (2-9) rallied past Windham (4-5) at Portland.

Erin Elder had two hits, including a two-run double in the top of the seventh to give the Eagles a 5-3 lead.

Kennedy finished with three RBI.

 

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

KENNEBUNK 16, CHEVERUS 7: Erin Gorton scored five goals and Hallie Schwartzman added four to lead the Rams (7-0) past the Stags (2-3) at Kennebunk.

Liz Kiezulas and Briannagh Beaudette each scored twice for Kennebunk, and Hailey Moody recorded 10 saves.

MESSALONSKEE 21, BRUNSWICK 5: Ally Turner had seven goals and seven assists, and Lauren Pickett added six goals to lead the Eagles (4-2) over the Dragons (2-4) at Brunswick.
