WESTBROOK — Chloe Griffin and Lindsey Kelley each had RBI singles as Scarborough overcame an early three-run deficit with five runs in the second inning to defeat Westbrook 12-6 in softball.

Westbrook (3-10) kept the game close, trailing 7-5 after scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth. However, the Red Storm (12-0) pulled away with five runs during a sixth-inning rally highlighted by Hunter Greenleaf’s two-run single.

Sam Carreiro had four hits for Scarborough, and Greenleaf three. Cam LaPierre swatted a two-run double for Westbrook and also a single.

SACOPEE VALLEY 19, ST. DOMINIC 0: Brynn Hink struck out five in holding St. Dominic (2-9) to hit over five innings in Hiram.

The Hawks (8-1) crafted a 7-0 lead over the first three innings before invoking the mercy rule with a 12-run fourth ignited by Hink’s leadoff homer.

CAPE ELIZABETH 16, WAYNFLETE 6: Emily Healy’s five goals paced Cape Elizabeth (5-3) during a win against the Flyers (4-2) in Portland.

Chloe Chapin, Karli Chapin and Susie Graham each scored three goals for the Capers.

Izzy Burdick scored three goals for Waynflete.

SOUTH PORTLAND 11, BONNY EAGLE 5: Jena Leckie and Paige Fleming each finished with three goals as the Red Riots (4-4) cruised to a win over the Scots (2-5) at Standish.

Keelin Sweeney scored two goals for Bonny Eagle.

PORTLAND 12, MAINE GIRLS’ ACADEMY 2: Annika More, Isabella More and Chloe Kilbride each scored twice to lead the visiting Bulldogs (7-2) past the Lions (2-5) at Portland.

Morgan Kierstad had two goals and an assist in the second half to extend Portland’s lead.

Zahria McLean scored and added an assist for MGA.

WINDHAM 4, MARSHWOOD 2: Alanna Joyce bypassed a pair of defenders and flicked home a goal during the early moments of the second half in Windham, giving the Eagles (4-2) a 2-1 lead. Windham maintained a slight lead the rest of the way against Marshwood (2-5).

Belle Skvorak led the Eagles with three goals and Grace Sawyer stopped 10 shots.

Marin Smith and Ruby Albers scored for the Hawks with Lily Clough making seven saves.

MASSABESIC 14, SCARBOROUGH 3: Morgan Pike scored three goals and added three assists to lift the Mustangs (7-0) over the Red Storm (1-6) at Waterboro.

Hellie Benton scored twice and had two assists.

Maegan Neelon, Erin Stolz and Ellie Smith scored for Scarborough.

BASEBALL

MARSHWOOD 6, WESTBROOK 1: Ian Parmley had three of Marshwood’s six hits, with an RBI and a run scored, as the Hawks (6-4) downed the Blue Blazes (1-9) during a weather-shortened five-inning game in Westbrook.

Jay Lyman singled home Connor Caverly and then scored on Parmley’s single for a 2-0 Marshwood lead in the top of the second. Westbrook countered with a run in the bottom of the inning; Matt Eugley led off with a double, the only Blazes hit of the game, and proceeded around the bases on a groundout and a wild pitch.

Marshwood scored in each of the remaining innings.

ST. DOMINIC 12, SACOPEE VALLEY 8: Hunter Hughes had four hits and Derek Wolverton drove home three runs as St. Dom’s (4-4) beat the Hawks (5-4) in South Hiram.

RICHMOND 14, RANGELEY 3: Matt Rines homered as the Bobcats (7-0) rolled to the five-inning win over host Rangeley (6-3).

WINTHROP SWEEPS TELSTAR: Maguire Anuszewski threw a four-hit shutout as the Ramblers (6-4) won the opener of a doubleheader 1-0 in Winthrop.

Joseph Dillon and Tyler Hill each had two hits for Telstar (1-5).

Carson Camick had a triple for Winthrop, which won the second game 10-2.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

YARMOUTH 15, LAKE REGION 1: Joe Truesdale’s four goals topped the Clippers (6-1) during a victory over Lake Region (3-4) in Yarmouth.
