WINDHAM — Famouth broke open a scoreless game with seven runs in the fourth inning Thursday, then held on for a 7-5 victory against Windham in an SMAA baseball game.

Ike Kiely, Nate Rogers and Griffin Aube had run-scoring singles for Falmouth (6-5) against the Eagles (7-4).

Ryan Sargent lifted a two-run double deep to right-center, then scored on a wild pitch to bring Windham within 7-3 in the bottom of the fourth.

SOUTH PORTLAND 10, DEERING 0: Caden Horton hit an RBI single in the first inning and an RBI double in the fourth as the Red Riots (9-2) beat the Rams (5-6) in five innings at South Portland.

Noah McHugh added three hits and two RBI. Riley Hasson and Jake Poole each chipped in with two hits and an RBI.

Noah Lewis of South Portland pitched a three-hitter with three strikeouts.

MARSHWOOD 3, NOBLE 1: Max Horton had three hits, including the game-winning RBI single, and Jay Lyman added an RBI single as the Hawks (7-4) used a two-run sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the Knights (6-5) at North Berwick.

Nate Curtis pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts. He also had an RBI single in the first.

Jake Lacroix of Noble struck out seven with no walks.

RICHMOND 11, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 2: Damian Little and Zach Small each drove in three runs for the Bobcats (8-0) against NYA (1-6) at Richmond.

Matt Rines of Richmond allowed three hits and two runs, striking out eight.

ST. DOMINIC 2, MARANACOOK 0: The Saints (8-4) scored single runs in the first and sixth innings and held off Maranacook (10-2) at Readfield.

Dan Garand of Maranacook allowed four hits, striking out 11. Mitch Root added two singles.

SCARBOROUGH 2, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Nick Thompson pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts, and Nolan Lamontagne hit an RBI double for the Red Storm (6-5), who used a two-run fifth inning to edge the Trojans (7-5) at Scarborough.

Jack Clark had two singles and Mac Clough scored on a passed ball for Scarborough.

Luke Chessie gave up five hits over six innings, striking out seven for Thornton.

KENNEBUNK 9, BONNY EAGLE 4: Ryan Connors and Matt Smith hit two-run doubles as the Rams (3-7) scored six times in the sixth inning to pull away from Bonny Eagle (4-6) at Kennebunk.

Kennebunk overcame an early 3-0 deficit with three runs in the fourth.

SANFORD 3, GORHAM 1: Marcus Gould reached on an error before scoring on Chase Kerrigan’s single, Jake Lamontagne came home on a passed ball and Nate Martineau added a run on an error as Sanford (3-7) took advantage of mistakes to slip past the Rams (5-4) at Gorham.

Kerrigan, with relief help from Martineau, held Gorham to three hits. Brogan McDonald scored for the Rams on a groundout in the bottom of the seventh inning.

BASKETBALL

YARMOUTH: Jonas Allen was named the new boys’ varsity basketball coach.

Allen replaces Adam Smith, who coached the Clippers for 14 seasons. Allen played basketball at George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill, competing in the 1993 McDonald’s Senior all-star game, and at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.

Allen, who lives in Yarmouth, was an assistant coach for the Bates College men’s team for five seasons from 1997-2002. A licensed social worker, he’s an academic/executive function coach at the STARS Learning Cooperative in Freeport.
