Griffin Aube allowed just three hits and an unearned run in six innings, and Garret Aube hit a two-run single during a four-run second inning as Falmouth defeated Deering 5-4 in an SMAA baseball game Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

After Griffin Aube escaped a bases-loaded, nobody-out jam in the bottom of the first, Falmouth (7-5) grabbed a 4-0 lead in the second inning.

Ike Kiely led off with a double and scored on a throwing error after Will Bopp’s infield hit. The Yachtsmen then loaded the bases for Garret Aube, who singled up the middle to drive in two runs. Connor Coffin’s squeeze bunt brought in Josh LeFevre for the fourth run of the inning.

Falmouth took a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh, when Deering (5-7) scored three runs against reliever Garret Aube on a two-run triple by Luc Harrison and a single by Luke Hill.

Falmouth has won four in a row, while Deering has lost five straight.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 4, SACOPEE VALLEY 3: Dawson Jones collected three hits, and Joshua Xanders had two hits and two RBI to lead the Raiders (7-6) past the Hawks (5-7) in eight innings at Hiram.

Dylan Miner drove in two runs for Sacopee Valley, which rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

SANFORD 8, WESTBROOK 3: The Spartans (5-7) scored seven runs in the first inning and defeated the Blue Blazes (1-11) in Westbrook.

Miles Hilton earned the win, allowing one run and two hits in four innings. Nate Martineau led Sanford with three hits, and Josiah Scott hit a two-run single.

Brandt Hebert and Kyle Champagne each had two hits for Westbrook.

GORHAM 10, MARSHWOOD 7: The Rams (7-4) built a 9-0 lead in the fourth inning and held off the Hawks (7-5) in South Berwick.

Ben Nelson led Gorham with three hits, and Nolan Brown had three RBI. Clayton Bassingthwaite earned the win, allowing three earned runs in four innings.

Nate Curtis hit a two-run homer for Marshwood in the fourth inning, and Connor Caverly followed with another home run. The Hawks got four more runs in the seventh before the comeback bid ended.

GARDINER 3, YARMOUTH 1: Cole Lawrence had two singles and an RBI to lead the Tigers (10-2) past the Clippers (7-5) in Gardiner.

Logan Porter (4-1) earned the win on the mound.

RICHMOND SWEEPS VINALHAVEN: Zach Small recorded a home run, three doubles, six hits and six RBI as the Bobcats (10-0) swept a doubleheader against Vinalhaven/North Haven (5-5) at Vinalhaven, 11-0 and 17-3.

Small homered and had two doubles in the first game, and winning pitcher Andrew Vachon struck out nine.

Small, Vachon and Matt Rines each had three hits in the second game, and Danny Stewart, Nate Kendrick and Trystin Shea had two hits apiece.

BUCKFIELD SWEEPS RANGELEY: Ethan Jackson pitched a two-hitter in the opener and Rick Kraske allowed only one hit in Game 2 as the Bucks (7-4) picked up two wins over Rangeley (6-5), 11-1 and 6-1.

SOFTBALL

SACOPEE VALLEY 7, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1: Lakyn Hink had two hits and an RBI, and Gabby Jamerson-Martin added two RBI to lead the Hawks (10-1) past the Raiders (9-4) at Hiram.

Brynn Hink pitched a three-hitter for Sacopee Valley.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

FALMOUTH 8, WAYNFLETE 7: Chelsey Smithwick finished with three goals, and Caitlyn Camelio collected three goals and an assist as the Yachtsmen (8-2) outlasted the Flyers (5-3) at Falmouth.

Ya Stockford led Waynflete with four goals, while Izzy Burdick added a goal and two assists.

Hannah Dubinsky made four saves for Falmouth. Avis Akers stopped 10 shots for Waynflete.

WINDHAM 12, MESSALONSKEE 8: Belle Skvorak scored eight goals to lead Windham (5-3) over Messalonskee (5-3) in Windham.

Alanna Joyce added two goals and four assists for Windham, Lauren Black had five assists, and Grace Sawyer made 10 saves.

Ally Turner scored six goals for Messalonskee.

YARMOUTH 11, MARSHWOOD 1: Ehryn Groothoff and Emma Marston each had two goals and an assist as the Clippers (6-2) cruised past the Hawks (2-6) in Yarmouth.

Ella Manero scored Marshwood’s goal.

ERSKINE ACADEMY 10, MAINE GIRLS’ ACADEMY 9: Liz Sugg and Jordan Linscott each scored three goals to lead the Eagles (4-3) over the Lions (2-6) in South China.

Catherine Reid scored seven goals for MGA.

GARDINER 10, MT. ARARAT 9: Maddie Walker scored three goals, and Bailey Poole and Evelyn Hinckley added two apiece to lead the Tigers (3-5) over the Eagles (0-8) in Topsham.

WAYNFLETE 14, CONY 1: Hank Duvall scored five goals and added five assists as the Flyers (5-3) dominated the Rams (3-6) at Augusta.

Zane Moorhead contributed three goals and an assist. Will Armstrong made nine saves for Waynflete.

FRIDAY’S BOYS’ LACROSSE

WELLS 17, BIDDEFORD 15: Ethan Marsh finished with six goals and Dylan Whitney added four to lead the Warriors (3-3) over the Tigers (1-6) at Biddeford.

Cody Thorne and Colby Plante led Biddeford with six goals each. Liam Turner chipped in with three.
