Cape Elizabeth High senior Brendan Tinsman was named the Gatorade Maine baseball player of the year on Tuesday.
Tinsman, a catcher who will next play at Wake Forest, was hitting .429 with three home runs, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored through the Capers first 12 games this year. He was a Maine Sunday Telegram All-State selection last year and is a three-time all-Western Maine Conference all-star.
Tinsman, 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, is now eligible for Gatorade’s national baseball player of the year award, which will be announced in June.
