How wonderful and rare to open the Press Herald only to be greeted by such a positive story!
On the front page May 14, there was a terrific feature on Biddeford Adult Education’s English lessons for refugees (“Refugee’s story reveals pathway to American dream”). The back stories of the students were so incredible in describing their efforts to come to America and become citizens.
Teacher Sam Smithwick not only walks the walk but also literally talks the talk and helps new arrivals learn the language, customs and history of this country.
Thank you for beginning my day with hope and inspiration.
