Maine State Troopers got involved in a fowl case Sunday. It started when a driver spotted a loon on Interstate 95 in Carmel, just outside of Bangor, and called the police to get assistance for the bird.

Trooper Andrew Pierson found the loon uninjured on the side of the road and kept it still until a game warden could arrive and put the bird in a crate. Trooper Tad Simpson arrived and they brought the loon to Etna Pond, which is about a mile off the interstate. The end result: Video of the bird diving back into nature and a few close-up pictures of a state treasure.
