WATERVILLE — Police arrested a local woman Sunday night after responding to a fire call on Summer Street where a woman was allegedly burning her boyfriend’s possessions in the street.

Waterville Police Chief Joe Massey said police were called to Summer Street around 8 p.m. Sunday night because of a fire in the street.

Upon arrival, police discovered that Victoria Mann, 29, had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend earlier that night. After the argument, the boyfriend left, and police say Mann then dragged the boyfriend’s clothes and a few belongings into the street and then set fire to them. Mann, who lives on Summer Street, was arrested on charges of arson and criminal mischief.

Massey said the fire was minor and did not damage any other property. He said Mann set the fire because she was angry.

Mann was released on $3,000 unsecured bail. She has a court date set for July 23 at Kennebec Superior Court.

Police would not release the boyfriend’s name, as he is considered a victim.
