WESTBROOK – How desirable are the Blue Spruce Farm Apartments?

The conspicuous success of the new, 50-acre Blue Spruce Farm neighborhood says it all.

When the subdivision is fully built out in September, there will be a total of 256 apartments. Of these, only 10 units are available to be leased between now (June 15) and fall 2018. The great majority of units now being built are already leased.

Tour the complex, which enjoys a highly convenient location midway between the Maine Mall area and Westbrook’s vibrant downtown, and you will immediately understand the appeal. An abundance of green space envelops the 12-unit buildings’ four areas: Waterside; Island View; Blue Spruce Farm; and Autumn Woods, the newest section. The site borders a winding Portland Trails path you can follow to the river.

Quality of life – quiet and walkable, with almost a mile of sidewalks – is soon to be enhanced by the additions of a fitness center, gardening plots, and an off-leash dog park. Yes, Blue Spruce Farm is pet-friendly, with some insurance-mandated breed restrictions, and fees.

The apartments are market-rate, and come in three styles: one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and ADA-compliant. (Modifications can be made to create the latter.) One-bedrooms measure 738 square feet; the other two types, 948 square feet.

Above all, the apartments are bright, spacious and immaculate. Finishes (oil-rubbed bronze, brushed nickel, for example) vary. Kitchens are fully applianced (stainless). Each home has either a private balcony, or a patio. The large, full baths have enclosures with laundry hookups.  Closet space is notably generous.

Who lives in the community? Professionals, students, retirees, downsizers … It’s a range of ages, but all residents have been screened, to everyone’s benefit. Buildings are secure, and have intercom systems. Professional management is by Maine Properties, LLC.
