ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Rookie Jake Bauers led off the 12th inning with a home run and the Tampa Bay Rays completed a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees with a 7-6 victory Sunday.

Giancarlo Stanton doubled twice and homered while going 5 for 5 for New York. The Yankees had been the only team in the majors that hadn’t lost three straight this year – the latest into any season they had gone without losing three straight since August 1954.

Bauers, who tripled earlier, homered on the first pitch from Chasen Shreve (2-2). Five previous New York relievers held Tampa Bay hitless for eight innings.

Brett Gardner opened the 12th with a bunt single that saw Rays reliever Jonny Venters strain his right hamstring and depart the game.

INDIANS 12, TIGERS 2: Edwin Encarnacion hit an eighth-inning grand slam, helping Cleveland win at home for its season-high seventh straight win.

Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez and Jason Kipnis also connected for Cleveland, which outscored Detroit 26-3 in the three-game sweep. Ramirez finished with three hits, extending his streak of reaching base to 31 consecutive games.

TWINS 2, RANGERS 0: Jose Berrios struck out a career-best 12 in seven innings, and Minnesota won at Minneapolis.

Eddie Rosario had two hits for Minnesota, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Bobby Wilson and Robbie Grossman each singled in a run.

WHITE SOX 10, ATHLETICS 3: Yoan Moncada broke out of a slump with a three-run homer and six RBI, and Chicago won at home for a split of a four-game series.

Daniel Palka and Yolmer Sanchez also connected for the White Sox, who had lost 9 of 10. Carlos Rodon (1-2) pitched a season-high eight innings.

ASTROS 11, ROYALS 3: Yuli Gurriel hit a grand slam in an eight-run second inning, helping Houston win at home.

BLUE JAYS 7, ANGELS 6: Kendrys Morales connected for a pinch-hit homer in the 10th inning, leading Toronto at Anaheim, California.

REDS 8, CUBS 6: Pitcher Mike Lorenzen connected for a pinch-hit homer to begin a comeback and Jesse Winker added a pinch-hit three-run homer in a big seventh for Cincinnati at home.

DIAMONDBACKS 3, PIRATES 0: Clay Buchholz pitched five solid innings before leaving with tightness in his left side, and Arizona won at Pittsburgh to complete a four-game sweep.

CARDINALS 8, BREWERS 2: Luke Weaver settled in after a shaky first inning to win for the first time in eight starts and Jose Martinez hit a three-run homer to pace St. Louis at Milwaukee.

DODGERS 8, METS 7: Justin Turner hit Los Angeles’ seventh home run of the game, a go-ahead drive in the 11th inning at New York.

GIANTS 3, PADRES 2: Hunter Pence hit a two-run double down the first-base line with the bases loaded and one out in the 11th inning, leading San Francisco at home.

MARLINS 8, ROCKIES 5: Derek Dietrich homered for the third straight game and tied a career high with four hits, leading Miami at Denver.

INTERLEAGUE

BRAVES 5, ORIOLES 3: Freddie Freeman’s two-run single in the first inning provided the lead, Dansby Swanson added a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the eighth and Atlanta won at home for its first victory against Baltimore in six years.
