Connor Panas hit a three-run homer in the third inning as New Hampshire built a 5-0 lead on its way to an 11-6 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Nick Lovullo tripled and drove in two runs for Portland, while Austin Rei and Johnny Bladel each had three hits.

Boston Red Sox reliever Tyler Thornberg, making a rehab appearance for the Sea Dogs, struck out three in two innings but gave up a solo home run.

NECBL: Austin Biggar hit a pinch-hit home run in the top of the 11th inning to give the Sanford Mainers (10-7) a 1-0 win over the Mystic Schooners (10-8) in Groton, Connecticut.

EMPIRE LEAGUE: Franklin Jennings tripled and drove in two runs, and Kenneth Collins had three hits for the New York Bucks (5-4) in a 9-6 win over the Old Orchard Beach Surge (7-4) at The Ballpark.

John Tierney and Nick McHugh each had two hits and an RBI for the Surge.

AMERICAN LEGION: Jack Romano hit a two-run triple for Coastal Landscape (6-2), which built a 3-0 lead and held on for a 4-3 win over Post 86 United (3-4), in Portland.

Luke Miller drove in two runs for Post 86.

Brogan McDonald hit a bases-clearing double during a five-run fifth inning as Yankee Ford (4-0) beat Staples Crossing 10-1 in South Berwick.

REGENCY LEAGUE: Jack Clark and Nick Frin each doubled and drove in two runs to lead Scarborough to a 9-0 win over Westbrook in a Regency Mortgage Summer League game in Scarborough.

Sam Clark struck out four in five innings for Scarborough.

BASKETBALL

NBA: Commissioner Adam Silver received a five-year contract extension, a reward for accomplishments that include rapid growth in the value of franchises and attendance records around the league being set annually.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

TENNIS

WIMBLEDON: Serena Williams was seeded No. 25 for her return to Wimbledon after having a baby, a decision that elevates the tournament’s seven-time champion above her ranking of 183rd.

EASTBOURNE INTERNATIONAL: Andy Murray lost 6-4, 6-4 to Kyle Edmund in the second round in Eastbourne, England, as he continued his comeback from injury.

With Wimbledon less than a week away, Murray still has to decide whether to bid for a third title. Murray’s defeat was his second in three matches since his return from long-term hip problems that sidelined him for almost a year.

FOOTBALL

NFL: The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension with Danielle Hunter worth up to $72 million, making him one of the top 10 highest-paid defensive ends in the NFL.

HOCKEY

NHL: The Buffalo Sabres acquired forward Conor Sheary and defenseman Matt Hunwick in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Pittsburgh re-signed forward Riley Sheahan to a $2.1 million, one-year contract.
