Brunswick police have charged a 24-year-old transient with elevated aggravated assault, accusing him of stabbed another man on Storer Road last week.
Officers were called to the Storer Road home at 6:42 a.m. Friday and found a 37-year-old resident there had been stabbed, Brunswick Police Cmdr. Mark Waltz said.
Waltz said the suspect, Jonathan Moss, had left the scene by the time police arrived but was arrested in the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store in Richmond at around 1 p.m. Saturday.
“We got information that he was going to be there to meet up with a family member,” Richmond Police Chief Scott MacMaster said, “so we were set up across the way waiting for him.”
Waltz said Moss and the victim knew each other and had an argument before the incident. The victim was taken to Mid Coast Hospital with the single knife wound that wasn’t considered life-threatening.
The elevated aggravated assault is a Class A felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison. Moss also was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, punishable by up to five years in prison, and the misdemeanor charges of terrorizing and reckless conduct.
He is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County court in Portland on Aug. 21.
