Kyle Hart struck out eight and allowed three earned runs to lead the Portland Sea Dogs to their third straight win, 5-3 over the Hartford Yard Goats on Friday night in Hartford, Connecticut.

Tony Renda had two hits and two RBI for Portland, and Jordan Betts hit a solo homer.

AMERICAN LEGION: Dylan Francoeur struck out five batters and drove in a run to lead Coastal Landscape (10-3) to a 4-1 win over Cole Post (7-6) at Cheverus.

Tanner Bernier hit a two-run double and Francoeur added an RBI single.

Staples Crossing (4-5) scored three runs in the first inning and held off Post 86 United (4-6) to win 3-2 in Cumberland.

NECBL: Trae Hall drove in two runs to lead the Vermont Mountaineers (7-16) to a 5-1 win over the Sanford Mainers (12-10) in Montpelier, Vermont.

Josh Zbierski had three hits for Sanford, including an RBI single in the second inning. Austin Liveley added two hits.

EMPIRE LEAGUE: The Puerto Rico Islanders (11-7) scored three runs in a seventh-inning rally to win 7-5 over the Old Orchard Beach Surge (9-11) in Aguada, Puerto Rico.

FOOTBALL

LOBSTER BOWL: Organizers of the 29th Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic released updated rosters for the high school all-star football game that will start at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 21 at Thornton Academy.

Six players were added to the West roster: Connor Sirois, QB, Bonny Eagle; Henry Vendon, FS, Yarmouth; Nolan Cabral, OL, Leavitt; Austin Weymouth, OL, Gardiner; Travis Weeks, TE, Sacopee Valley; and Austin Pierce, TE, Oak Hill.

Five players were added to the East roster: Luke Tuell, DB, Bangor; Marcus Canty, OL, Windham; Micah Hallett, OL, MDI; Bailey Pelletier, OL, Brunswick; and Cam Barnes, WR, Skowhegan.

AUTO RACING

NASCAR: Chase Elliott turned a lap of 194.045 mph to win the pole at Daytona International Speedway and give sagging Chevrolet a much-needed boost.

HALL OF FAME: Three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart, three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti and NHRA legend Don Schumacher are among seven people chosen for induction into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.

The others chosen for induction are automotive and racing pioneer Augie Duesenberg, sports car engineer Phil Remington, motorcycle road-racing champion Kevin Schwantz and race queen Linda Vaughn.

NHL: The Columbus Blue Jackets signed forward Anthony Duclair to a $650,000, one-year contract.

Duclair, 22, has been traded twice and last week became an unrestricted free agent when the Chicago Blackhawks decided not to offer him a contract to retain his rights.

Free-agent forward Tyler Ennis signed a one-year, $650,000 deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs a week after having the final year of his contract bought out by the Minnesota Wild.

JUNIORS: The driver of a semi-trailer that collided with a bus in an April crash that killed 16 people involved with the Humboldt Broncos hockey team was arrested on criminal charges, authorities said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, 29, was detained at his home in Calgary, Alberta, and would appear in a provincial court in Saskatchewan next week.
