WINSLOW — A Winslow man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on domestic violence charges after creating a two-hour standoff with police on Randall Road.

Gregory S. Allen Jr., 31, was charged with domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal mischief, creating a police standoff and violating condition of release. Captain Haley Fleming of the Winslow Police Department said Thursday that police were able to resolve the standoff with Allen peacefully.

Fleming said he could not go into detail about what took place inside the home that would have resulted in domestic violence charges against Allen as the police report had not been finalized.

Allen, another adult and a minor, who Fleming said was not involved in the incident, were inside the home when police arrived. Officers were concerned that Allen posed an active threat, prompting Winslow Fire Department and Delta Ambulance service to cordon off Randall Road and alert local residents of the situation.

Fleming said police negotiated with Allen for more than two hours, during which Winslow police had to call in additional off-duty officers to assist them. The Waterville Police Department stood by to respond to any other calls for service during the event.

At 3:25 p.m., Allen exited the residence and was taken into custody by police without further incident. Injuries suffered during the domestic disturbance did not require medical treatment, Fleming said. When asked if any weapons were found inside the home, Fleming said none that he believed had been used during the incident.

Allen is currently being held without bail at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility. He is expected to appear at Waterville District Court in August.
