Center offers thrice-weekly living history tours
Washburn-Norlands Living History Center is now offering living history tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through August at the historic homestead complex at 290 Norlands Road.
The tour includes the 1867 Washburn family mansion and farmer’s cottage, and the one-room schoolhouse. Interpreters dressed in period clothing portray people you might have met had you visited Norlands in the 1800s.
Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for children and $25 for families, with discounts for members.

Singer-songwriter to give gospel music concert Sunday
Singer-songwriter Travis Pinkham will perform a concert of gospel music at 6 p.m. Sunday at Dixfield Common Baptist Church, 2 Chapel Road.
Pinkham, of Wilton, has produced several CDs. He specializes in country, but also does worship-type songs.
KENNEBUNK
Music, walking tours, lecture on tap at museum
The Brick Store Museum will host the following events this coming week, all at 117 Main St., unless otherwise noted:
• Kennebunk Beach History walking tour, 2 p.m. Thursday beginning at Trinity Chapel Railroad Avenue, Kennebunk Beach. One-mile loop, 60-90 minute walk. Cost is $10; $5 for members.
• A “Three Nations” discussion, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with author and editor Valerie Lawson. Tickets are $5 per person and free for members.
• Another historical walking tour, led by a guide, noon Saturday at the museum. Learn about the history of the elaborate and historical homes in Kennebunk’s Summer Street neighborhood. Tickets are $5 per person, free for members.
• Musician Monica Grabin will perform music from the 1960s, 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5.

Pet show, concert among activities at public library
Wells Public Library will host a variety of programs this week at 1434 Post Road.
Children’s and teen programs will include:
• Mother Goose Storytime, for ages 24 months and younger with their caregivers, 10:30 a.m. Monday; lap activities, rhymes, songs, and fingerplays.
• Crafty Kids, 3 p.m. Tuesday, all ages may drop in to create art projects. All materials will be supplied.
• Books at the Beach, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the gazebo in Harbor Park, weather permitting, all ages; stories, songs, and movement activities.
• The library’s annual pet show, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Free face painting. All animals must be on a leash or in a cage. Registration is not required, but is appreciated.
• The youth Lego and Rubik’s Cube Club will meet at 3 p.m. Friday.
Adult programs will include:
• Concert with eclectic folk-rocker Marc Black, 6 p.m. Tuesday.
• Conversational French language group, 6 p.m. Thursday, practice or relearn French.

Fair and yard sale Saturday at Church on the Cape
A Ship’s Cargo Fair and Yard Sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Church on the Cape, on Langsford Road.
A variety of items will be offered, including baked goods, crafts and supplies, books, CDs and lunch items.

Collection of classic cars a highlight of Founder’s Day
The 40th annual Founder’s Day, to support the local Hamlin Library and Museum, will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on the Paris Hill Green, rain or shine.
The showpiece of the charity event is The Bahre Collection of 50 antique and classic cars. The collection, housed at the birthplace of Hannibal Hamlin, Abraham Lincoln’s first vice-president, is open once a year to the public at the Founder’s Day event.

Along with the vehicles there is an antique doll and toy collection, horse-drawn carriages, a player piano, old phonographs, table-top instruments and a jukebox. Donations for admission to The Bahre Collection are $10 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under.
HIRAM
Porter man to give talk about farming with horses
Peter Hagerty, a farmer from Porter, will head the talk “Farming With Horses” at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Great Ossipee Museum of Hiram Historical Society, 20 Historical Ridge.
Hagerty will talk about tilling, haying and logging with horses in the old sustainable way, in the joint program of the library and Hiram Historical Society Maine and the Soldiers Memorial Library of Hiram.
