A Farmington man was seriously injured Sunday evening in an all terrain vehicle crash in Penobscot County.

Lt. Kevin Adam of the Maine Warden Service said Danny Adams, 53, of Farmington, was driving north on his ATV along the Rail Bed Trail, in Lagrange, when the vehicle left the trail and struck some small trees.

The accident happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. on the trail in Penobscot County in between Milo and Howland, Adam said Monday morning. He said Adams appeared to be seriously injured and a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter was used to take him to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

A hospital spokesman said Monday morning that Adams was seen in the emergency department at EMMC and then transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland. A spokeswoman at the Portland hospital said Adams remained in serious condition Monday afternoon.

Adams was carrying two juvenile passengers at the time of the crash, according to the Warden Service. Both juveniles were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and suffered only minor injuries.

Personnel from Lagrange Fire Department, Bradford Fire Department, Bradford Rescue, Three Rivers Ambulance Service, of Milo, and the Maine Warden Service responded to the scene.
