DRESDEN — Fire fighters from communities in three counties were called in to knock down a fire that was reported around 3:30 p.m. at a home on Calls Hill Road.

Tanker crews ferried in water to the site surrounded by woods, located less than a quarter-mile from Middle Road, where it follows the path of the Eastern River.

Traffic on Middle Road was slowed from time to time to allow the tankers in and out of the fire scene. At times they were lined up on Calls Hill Road waiting to offload their water into a portable reservoir.

Fire trucks were deployed in the driveway of the home blocking much of the view, but over the top of the trucks the burned exposed beams of the home could be seen through the trees and the smoke.

Dresden property records shows that the home, with seven acres, belongs to Linda Hermans and Richard Goldman. It’s assessed for tax purposes at $220,012.

Crews responded from Dresden, Richmond, Bowdoin, Pittston, Randolph, Alna, West Bath and Woolwich as well as Wiscasset Ambulance and Gardiner Ambulance.
