MECHANIC FALLS — The investigation continues into a violent two-vehicle crash Wednesday that involved seven people, two of whom suffered critical injuries, according to police.

Mechanic Falls Chief of Police Jeffrey Goss said Thursday that seven people were taken to hospitals by ambulances or LifeFlight after the crash at the intersection of North Main and Bucknam streets at about 3:30 p.m.

Goss said Thursday he would not release the names of the victims until their families have been notified.

Mechanic Falls police are reconstructing the crash as part of their investigation. Goss said he didn’t want to speculate about the cause of the crash until the investigation is complete.

Police closed sections of North Main and Bucknam streets, and remained on the scene until about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. Mechanic Falls police, Maine State Police and deputies from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office responded.
