BRANFORD — Michael Cullina Freeman, MS, LADC, CCS, 78, of Branford, CT, passed away on July 26, 2018 at home after a long illness. He was born the youngest of three children, on November 24, 1939, in Bath, Maine, to Anton Oscar Freeman and Helen Cullina Freeman, deceased. His two older brothers, Anton of Worcester, Mass, and Robert of Sacramento, CA, are deceased. Surviving are his wife, Ann; two sons, Robert Freeman of Westbrook, and Patrick (Gina) Freeman, Branford; three grandchildren, Samantha, Alex, and Victoria Freeman; and many nieces and nephews in and around Worcester, Mass, and Sacramento, California. He graduated from Morse High School, Bath, Maine, received a BS in Human Services from New Hampshire College, and an MS in Community Psychology from Springfield College, Mass. Michael was a skilled and successful NE Regional Sales Manager for WT Grant Co, and later an innovative administrator in the behavioral health industry, retiring as Director of Connecticut Counseling Center, Waterbury, CT. Michael was beloved, admired, and respected by all. He was known for his quick smile, always seeing the good in people, and friendly manner. He was devoted to his family, and was passionate about helping people, ballroom dancing with his wife, music, vacationing in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and the Patriots. His volunteer activities included serving in several lay leadership roles at Trinity Church, Branford, companion through Seniors Helping Seniors, and driving for the Medical Transportation Service at Canoe Brook Center, Branford. Cremation will be accorded by Hawley Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 1315 Boston Post Road, Guilford. A service of Celebration & Thanksgiving will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1109 Main Street, Branford, on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at 4:00 PM. A reception will immediately follow.
