HARPSWELL – A Brunswick woman was injured when she fell off a boat in Cundy’s Harbor on Sunday, and has been taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment.

Casey L. Chandler, 21, fell off a boat that was likely moving, said Maine Department of Marine Resources spokesman Jeff Nichols. The vessel, a 15-foot 1972 Glastron, was heading south on New Meadows River near Cundy’s Harbor when the incident occurred.

“The investigation to date indicates that she may have been struck by the propeller of the boat she fell from,” said Nichols.

Chandler suffered lacerations to her leg before being helped by other occupants of the boat.

“She was pulled from the water by occupants of the boat she was on,” said Nichols.

The Maine Marine Patrol was notified that someone had fallen off the boat around 3:40 p.m. Sunday and responded, said Nichols. She was taken to Mid Coast Hospital before being flown via a LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland. A blood alcohol test was administrated on the operator as is standard procedure, said Nichols, though no results are available yet.
