Fryeburg police have identified Dylan Szabad, 27, as the Nashua, New Hampshire, man who was found dead on a beach on the Saco River in Fryeburg on Sunday.

The cause of Szabad’s death and additional details regarding the circumstances of his death were not being released Monday, Police Chief Joshua J. Potvin said in a statement.

Fryeburg police said officers and paramedics used an air boat to respond to a report of a medical emergency involving a canoeist at 7:45 a.m. Sunday.

Responders arrived on scene to find Szabad dead on the beach at mile 14 on the river, police said.

The medical emergency was reported to police by the group of friends Szabad had been canoeing with.

The results of an examination by the State Medical Examiner’s Office were not available Monday evening.
