BATH — Geneva Alice Hewitt, age 98, of Bath, passed away peacefully at her home on August 16, 2018, with family by her side. She was born in Vanceboro, Maine, in 1919, the daughter of Essie and Albert Russell and graduated valedictorian from Vanceboro High School and the Bath Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

She worked at the Bath Memorial Hospital, the Bath Iron Works First Aid Department and served as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during WWII transporting injured soldiers throughout the country.

She is predeceased by her husband Charles E. Hewitt in 1980, brothers Perley of Vanceboro and Donald Russell of Lincoln and sisters Ethel Mason of St. Croix, N.B. and Mabel Russell of Bath.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Pinkham of Bath, a son Stephen Hewitt and wife Lisa of Dresden, a daughter Rebecca and husband Brian Nadeau of North Bath and a sister Myra and her husband Forest Staples of Bath, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was a member of the Bath Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, the Sabino Improvement Association, the Bath Senior Citizens and the Coasters of Bath.

There will be a private service at her request.
