SANFORD — A 2-year-old found wandering alone on Island Avenue in Sanford late Monday afternoon was soon reunited with his father.
Deputy Police Chief Tim Strout said police received a call at about 5:55 p.m. that a child had been found walking in the street of the east side neighborhood.
Strout said the child had been found by a resident of Island Avenue who notified police.
Police located the child’s father around 6:16 p.m., and the two were reunited.
The child had left the family home without the father’s knowledge, Strout said in a brief statement.
He said an investigation is ongoing.
