I write to urge the re-election of state Sen. Rebecca Millett, D-South Portland, who has represented Senate District 29 (South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, part of Scarborough) in the Maine Senate since 2012.

I am a retired Portland Public Schools teacher (30 years). Rebecca has been such an outstanding advocate for Maine’s children and public schools that the Maine Education Association honored her with its 2016 Friend of Education Award. She has secured an additional $250 million for our K-12 public schools, fought for bills to improve child nutrition, worked passionately on a bill to ensure lead testing for all water in our schools, and been a workhorse on education policy as my senator.

Known as the hardest worker in any room, Rebecca responds with speed and grace to my constituent messages. I am honored to be represented by a senator of such passionate dedication to our children. Let’s send her back to Augusta.
