BRUNSWICK — The Casco Bay Council of the United States Navy League will be hosting a celebration of the United States Navy’s 243rd birthday at the Brunswick Naval Museum and Memorial Gardens 179 Admiral Fitch Avenue, Brunswick ME the evening of Oct. 12. The party is co-hosted by the museum organization and the Bath Maine Chapter of the Surface Navy Association.

Rear Adm. Peter A. Garvin will be the guest speaker.  Garvin has served on the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations staff; and executive assistant to the vice chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff. Most recently, he served as the 22nd commander of Navy Recruiting Command. He recently assumed the duties of Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Group.

The 2018 Navy Birthday Party will start with a social hour at 6 p.m., at 7 p.m. introductions and ceremonies will take place with dinner immediately following.

The Casco Bay Navy League welcomes active duty and reserve military personnel as their guest, at no charge if in uniform. Service members’ guests will be charge $25. Members of the Casco Bay Navy League, Brunswick Naval Museum and Memorial Gardens and Surface Navy Association will pay $40 each for members and their guests with conformations prior to Oct. 1. Non-members and conformations after Oct. 1,  or $50 per person at the door.
