BATH — Election night may prove relatively quiet Nov. 6 in Bath and Topsham, where incumbents are not being challenged in any local races.

In Bath, there are no contested seats on the City Council or Regional School Unit 1 Board of Directors. Topsham has uncontested candidates for the Board of Selectmen and School Administrative District 75 Board of Directors.

Bath City Councilors Sean Paulhus, Terry Nordmann and Bernie Wyman in Wards 2, 3 and 4, respectively, were the only people to take out or return nomination papers by the Aug. 21 deadline.

Paulhus has served since 2008, Nordmann since 2015 and Wyman since 1994. All three will be unopposed, barring any last-minute write-in candidates.

Both RSU 1 board members with expiring terms were the only ones to submit papers by Monday’s deadline.

Chairman Steve August, who has served since 2012, and Vice Chairman Lou Ensel, on the board since 2015, fill two of the board’s three “unrestricted-residence” positions, for anyone who resides in the RSU.

In Topsham, only the incumbents on the Board of Selectmen and SAD 75 board had submitted papers by the Sept. 7 deadline.

Selectman Roland Tufts is running again for his seat, which he has held since 2015. Dorothy Gardner has submitted papers for the School Board, where she first served from 1977-1992, and then from 2000 to the present.
