SANFORD  — Maurice Lamarre, 91, of Biddeford died on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018 at the home of his daughter.

He was born Aug. 16, 1927 in Westbrook, a son of Napoleon and Mathilda (Mongeau) Lamarre.  He came here as a child and was educated in local schools.

At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.

On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Rita Elise Bellefeuille at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

Most of his working life he worked as a loom fixer at Biddeford Textile, retiring in 1992.

A former member of the Rochambeau Club, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and blueberry, apple and strawberry picking.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Rita Lamarre on Feb. 15, 2017. The family is comforted in knowing that Rita came for him on the anniversary of their marriage. He was also predeceased by a sister, Pauline Neault.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Rowe of Sanford; a son, Mark Lamarre and his wife Susan of Mebane, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Amber Lamarre, Jo Lamarre, Cory Lamarre, Hannah Lamarre, Tammy Desrosiers, Becky Morse, and Mandy Bracy; eight great-grandchildren, Braydon Horton, Sy Lamarre, Rylan and Aroura Sanchez, Skyler Morse, Bellamy Morse, Madison Desrosiers, and Shelbey Desrosiers; and a sister, Bernice Frost.

Visiting Hours will 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018 and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will follow the calling hours on Friday at noon. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
