SOUTH PORTLAND — Polling places will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. in South Portland, Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth on Election Day, Nov. 6.

Among other things, voters in all three municipalities will be asked if they want their respective school departments to join the Greater Sebago Education Alliance Regional Service Center.

In South Portland, residents in District 1 can vote at the Boys & Girls Club, 169 Broadway; District 2 at American Legion Stewart P. Morrill Post No. 35, 413 Broadway; Districts 3 and 4 at the South Portland Community Center, 21 Nelson Road, and District 5 at Redbank Community Center on Macarthur Circle West. 

April Caricchio and James H. Gilboy are on the South Portland ballot hoping to be elected to a three-year term representing City Council District 4, which is being vacated by Mayor Linda Cohen. 

Misha Pride of Highland Avenue is running unopposed to succeed District 3 Councilor Eben Rose. 

Three seats on the city School Board are also open, but only the incumbents turned in nominating petitions: Richard Matthews in District 3, Vice Chairman Matthew Perkins in District 4, and District 5 representative Elyse Tipton.

Running unopposed for District 4 Warden and Ward Clerk, respectively, are Jonathan Hartford and Douglas Schaefer. 

City voters will also be asked if they approve of ordinance amendments that ban unhosted short-term rentals in the city’s residential zones.

In Scarborough, polling will take place at Scarborough High School’s Alumni Gymnasium, 11 Municipal Campus.

Four candidates are vying for two seats on the Town Council: incumbent Councilor Robert “Will” Rowan, John “David” Dittmer, Paul Johnson and Donald Hamill.

Fifteen candidates returned nomination papers to fill five seats on the Board of Education – a record number of candidates for the board.

Chairwoman Mary Starr decided not to seek re-election and longtime board member Jackie Perry is termed out. Donna Beeley was recalled in a special May election, when two, one-year terms were also left vacant by the ouster of Cari Lyford and Jodi Shea. 

Amy Glidden and Emily Read are seeking Lyford’s seat, and Benjamin Howard, Stacey Neumann and Alicia Giftos are running for the remainder of Shea’s term. 

Candidates for full three-year terms on the School Board are Jonathan Cloutier, Leroy Crockett, Nicholas Gill, Betsy Gleysteen, Lori Lavoie, Sarah Leighton, Michael Marcello, Annalee Rosenblatt, April Sither and Quinn Stewart, according to the town clerk’s office. 

Nicola Rico and Benedetto Viola are running unopposed for two seats on the Sanitary District Board of Trustees. Seth Garrison is running unopposed for a seat on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees.

Cape Elizabeth residents can vote at Cape Elizabeth High School, 345 Ocean House Road.

Five candidates are competing for three seats on the Town Council.

Council Chairwoman Jessica Sullivan and Councilor Sara Lennon are not seeking re-election. Incumbent Councilor Jamie Garvin is on the ballot, along with Valerie Deveraux, Jeremy Gabrielson, James Tasse and John Voltz.

Running uncontested for three seats on the School Board are incumbents Heather Altenburg and Elizabeth Scifres and neophyte Laura Denino.
