SACO – Seniors looking for resources to improve their health and well being need look no further. The Saco Annual Wellness Fair, sponsored by Age Friendly Saco and Saco Parks and Recreation, will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Saco Community Center, 75 Franklin St.

The fair will include four “mini-session” seminars and a vendor fair.

A free lunch will be served, and coffee and doughnuts will be available. Register ahead of time to assure there is enough food available by visiting the Saco Recreation Department web site at sacorec.com or by calling 283-3139.

Doctor Lisa Letourneau will talk about Choosing Wisely, a program that helps clinicians and patients engage in conversations about the overuse of tests and procedures. Katheryn Griffin of law firm Toole, Powers & Griffin, P.A.  will discuss elder law. There will also be a a presentation titled “Managing Transitions Through the Life Span” and a presentation about Medicare.

Flu shots will be available from noon to 2 p.m. Those who want free flu shots should bring their insurance card.

The vendor fair will feature a number of local resources. There will be representatives from Senior College, AARP and local fitness centers;,blood pressure screenings, a massage therapist, acupuncturist, and information on essential oils.

There will also be a demonstration on how smart assistive technology can help residents be safer in their homes as well as be able to stay in their homes longer.

According to information from U.S. Census Bureau, Saco’s population was estimated to be 19,485 in 2017. Nearly 17 percent of the population was found to be 65 or older.

Age Friendly Saco is a community group that strives to make Saco a better place to live for people of all ages. The group is involved in several initiatives to help the quality of life of Saco residents, including a home winterization program, a community garden and measures to make the beach more accessible.
