“An apology is the superglue of life. It can repair just about anything.” — Lynn Johnston

I need to apologize. I hope Shirley Jones and Rosemarie Smith of the York County Retired Educators Association will accept my apology for not following through with our plans. I filed the plans away in a special place so I would not forget, and that is exactly what I did! We intended for them to come on my show and talk about the Holiday Harvest Fair.

However, I did publicize the event, getting the word out.  The committee worked very hard to make this event a success while hoping to bring back the tradition of a Holiday Fair.

The YCREA, York County Retired Educators help the community with an inspired purpose in life. Being a teacher matters. They have a genuine and contagious form of enthusiasm. The YCREA Association, is an organization of dedicated, retired educators from around the York County area that has established as its main focus, to award scholarships that will help graduating seniors attend college   and pursue a career in education.

(With all this rain and puddles I smile as I recall all the splashing little first grade feet. Oh, how they enjoyed those puddles!)

I accept responsibility for my actions and am expressing regret.  Please forgive and I hope you will give me the opportunity to make it up.

It is always good to get the word out to the wide community. Folks should know about upcoming events. Fellow citizens should also know about the hungry, the homeless, the angry or when rights are taken away.

We have many wonderful organizations in our community.  Another one is the Biddeford & Saco Chamber of Commerce and Industry. There has been change at the Chamber. Craig Pendleton resigned as executive director of the Chamber and has expressed a desire to serve in a cabinet-level position for the next government. I enjoyed working with Craig. He examined the key areas of a community. I am wishing Craig overwhelming success and special blessings in his new focus. He has contributed and played an enormous role in shaping the chambers.

At the Chamber Fall Auction and Awards Celebration we will meet the new Executive Director, Jim La Belle. Hopefully we will get to know him as we welcome him to our community. The Awards celebration is Saturday, Nov. 3 at Thornton Academy from 5:30 to 9 p.m. To buy tickets call 282-1567.

A big thank you goes out to Leah Williams of Saco and Biddeford Institution for recently conducting an informative breakfast training session on Maximizing Social Media for your business with chamber members. Corporate sponsor is Saco Sport and Fitness.

Thank God for women and men in the world who give, nurture and love others.  How fortunate when children receive love and caring from teaches, aunts, uncles, coaches, neighbors, child care workers and grandparents.

Life has become busy for men and women. It demands our time and attention. We need to organize our life around a few beautiful thoughts every day.
