SOUTH PORTLAND — Kimberlee Bennett, assistant principal of South Portland High School, was named Maine’s National Association of Secondary School Principals Assistant Principal of the Year by the Maine Principal’s Association.

Bennett began her educational career in 1997 as a special education teacher in Fryeburg and then went on to Gorham Middle School as a special education teacher for 12 years. She has been assistant principal at South Portland High School for the past seven years.

MPA Executive Director Richard Durost said in a news release that “Bennett’s efforts in recognizing a changing student population at South Portland High School and her impact on the positive culture of the school is commendable.”

Bennett will receive the award at the MPA’s annual awards banquet next April in Rockport.
