BATH — The Bath City Council gave initial approval to a $194,000 landfill debt payment after it was revealed that the payment had been left out of the budget passed earlier this year.

Finance Director Juli Millett said the payment was left out of the landfill budget due to a spreadsheet error. There is enough money in the undesignated fund to cover that payment, and the council voted to take money from that fund to pay for it.

According to Millett, the payment is not actually due until mid-January, so the city council has time for second passage of the bill at their January meeting.
