LEWISTON — Police in a Maine city are investigating after a device with an attached camera lens was found in a women’s locker room at a college.

Lewiston police won’t say where in the Bates College locker room the device, which was discovered on Friday, was found.

WGME-TV reports the device was taken to the state police crime lab on Monday. Investigators are trying to determine the nature of the device and who had access to the locker room.

Bates College officials say players and coaches from the women’s basketball team were in the locker room on Friday before practice when someone found the device.

Bates Communications Officer Sean Findlen says “providing a safe and secure environment for everyone on our campus is of paramount importance.”
