We deserve a government that’s working to protect us, not hurt us. The shutdown is unnecessary and hurts us all. It is past time to end the government shutdown that is wreaking havoc on so many of our public lands and halting important Environmental Protection Agency programs. We see the impacts here in Maine, with Acadia National Park operating with limited staffing, which harms the safety of visitors and neglects maintenance projects. With an EPA that has gone unfunded, the essential work to monitor the quality of our air and water can’t be done, and programs that protect our kids’ health aren’t operating. Now that Congress is back in session, I urge them to listen to Maine’s delegation and end this shutdown to protect our health and public lands. Our state and our country deserve better.
