PORTLAND — The Verizon Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to the Portland Public Schools to support science curriculum development for grades K-5, the Foundation for Portland Public Schools announced Feb. 5.
“The district is grateful to Verizon for supporting the development of robust and relevant science programming for all students,” Melea Nalli, assistant superintendent of teaching and learning for the Portland schools, said.
Stephanie Lee, Verizon’s regional director, said “we understand the importance of providing educators with tools to enable students to strengthen their science, technology, engineering, and math skills. We are proud to partner with the Portland Public Schools to help students reach their full potential through more intensive science exploration in elementary school.”
