BIDDEFORD — Senior Grace Laverriere has been selected as the winner of the 2019 Maine Principals’ Association Principal’s Award for Biddeford High School.

This award is given annually to a senior from each high school who displays excellence in academic achievement and citizenship.

“Grace is one of the kindest, sweetest, and most driven students we have walking the halls of Biddeford High School,” said Jeremie Sirois, Biddeford High School principal. “She is someone who treats everyone with dignity and respect.  She is a talented writer who will go on to be a successful adult. Losing a person like Grace to graduation will be a tough loss for this school.”

Along with her kind manner, Laverriere has achieved academic success with a 3.99 GPA and is interning this school year with the Journal Tribune as a journalist. Her articles have even been featured on the front page.

In addition to her writing prowess, she is heavily involved in the student government serving as Senior Class President.

She plans to attend Suffolk University in the fall and study journalism.

Laverriere will join recipients from every high school in Maine to be honored at a Maine Principals’ Association sponsored luncheon.  The luncheon will be held April 6 at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer.

During the luncheon, Laverriere will be in the running for one of several $1,000 scholarships to be awarded by the Maine Principals’ Association.
