CAPE ELIZABETH — The Ararat sixth-grade girls travel basketball team won the Cape Elizabeth Travel League “A” division championship this past weekend.

Ararat eliminated rival Brunswick in the semifinals with a 48-35 victory. Cali Pomerleau poured in 19 points to lead the way for the Eagles. Kennedy Lampert netted 10 points. Tarynn Keleher added eight points, including a pair of key 3-pointers. Islah Godo and Elena Willis contributed to the victory with four points each. Avery Beal chipped in with three points and Rachel Penny had two points for the Eagles.

In the final, the Eagles defeated Wells, 28-26, in a hard-fought contest.

Trailing 18-11 at the half, the Eagles clawed their way back by holding Wells to eight  points in the second half. Pomerleau continued her offensive dominance with a game-high 15 points. Godo netted eight points, including nailing clutch free throws late the game. Keleher helped shift the momentum in the Eagles’ favor by contributing with four quick points to start the second half. Beal made a big free throw down the stretch to help seal with victory.

The Eagles finished 11-1 in the Cape Elizabeth league.
