Brunswick – Beth L. Barnes died suddenly and unexpectedly at home on March 9, 2019. 

She was born April 10, 1937 in Zanesville, OH the daughter of Donald and Louise Dieterly.  She graduated from Lemon-Monroe High School, Monroe, OH. She earned her B.S. from Miami of Ohio University and her M.Afrom Northwestern University.  She received her American Speech and Hearing (ASHA) certification for Clinical Competence in Speech Therapy in 1965. She provided therapy to preschoolers for over 50 years, working in Oklahoma, Florida, and Maine. 

Relocating to Maine in 2006, she was an active member and participant in the choir of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Brunswick, ME. 

She married her husband, the Reverend Bennett H. Barnes, of whom she was predeceased. 

She is survived by a daughter Anne and her partner Glen Dalpe; a son, David and his wife Bridgett; four grandchildren, Thomas Hancox, Gracie Hancox, Chad Barnes, and Dylan Barnes. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, Brunswick or a local food pantry of your choice.  Memories and condolences can be expressed at www.brackettfh.com. A celebration of her life will be announced later for this coming summer at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  Arrangements are in the care of Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
