CAPE ELIZABETH — The School Board accepted a $50,000 grant from the Cape Elizabeth Education Foundation for redevelopment of the Pond Cove Elementary School playground.
The second year of Superintendent Donna H. Wolfram’s three-year contract was also certified at the March 12 meeting. For the year beginning July 1, her salary will increase 2.8 percent, from $135,000 to $138,713, Wolfram confirmed.
The foundation grant will be used by the Pond Cove Playground Committee to fund “Operation Rebuild: Learn, Play, Grow Outside!”
Jessica Morel, a member of the Pond Cove Playground Committee, said at the meeting that the grant will specifically be for the “Natureland” portion of the playground, which will host an outdoor classroom with raised garden beds, an irrigation plan, and a bird and butterfly learning garden.
The overall cost of the renovation is $300,000. Construction is scheduled to begin July 1.
