Scarborough’s Madison Blanche helped her team reach the Class AA state final and was named an SMAA girls’ all-star.

South Portland’s Tyree Bitjoka was honored by the SMAA for his defense.

The basketball season was one of triumph in Forecaster Country and several local standouts were named to postseason all-star teams.

Cape Elizabeth’s boys’ team reached the Class B state final and placed Andrew Hartel on the Western Maine Conference second-team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Hartel also played in the WMC Senior All-Star Game. Cape Elizabeth’s Jim Ray served as a coach.

Cape Elizabeth’s Sean O’Sullivan qualified for the WMC All-Academic team.

In the Southwestern Maine Activities Association, South Portland’s Tyree Bitjoka was named co-Defensive Player of the Year, along with Portland’s Pedro Fonseca.

Scarborough’s Nick Fiorillo made the SMAA first-team.

Scarborough’s Brian Austin was a second-team selection.

South Portland’s Scott Lewis and Pamba Pamba made the third-team.

South Portland’s Bitjoka was an honorable mention selection.

Scarborough’s Alex Austin, Fiorillo and Tyler Gobeil qualified for the SMAA All-Academic team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Hartel and Scarborough’s Fiorillo represented the Class AA/A/B South team in the Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star Game.

Scarborough’s Alex Austin and Nick Fiorillo qualified for the All-State All-Academic team.

Fiorillo was also a semifinalist for the Mr. Maine Basketball award, which was won by Bangor’s Matt Fleming.

On the girls’ side, Class AA South champion Scarborough placed junior Julia Freeman on the SMAA first-team. She was joined by South Portland junior Maggie Whitmore.

Scarborough junior Madison Blanche made the second-team.

Scarborough senior Josie Couture and South Portland senior Jena Leckie were third-team selections.

South Portland sophomore Maria Degifico was named to the SMAA All-Rookie team.

Scarborough’s Blanche and South Portland’s Bela Cloutier made the SMAA All-Defensive team.

Scarborough’s Couture and Leah Dickman and South Portland’s Cloutier qualified for the SMAA All-Academic team.

Scarborough’s Mike Giordano was named the Ron Cote SMAA Coach of the Year.

In the WMC, Cape Elizabeth senior Brooke Harvey was named to the third-team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Meghan Gerety and Alison Ingalls qualified for the WMC All-Academic team.

Scarborough’s Couture and South Portland’s Katie Whitmore represented Class AA/A/B South in the Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star Game.

Scarborough’s Mike Giordano was named the state’s Class AA South Coach of the Year.

Cape Elizabeth’s Meghan Gerety, Scarborough’s Josie Couture and South Portland’s Bela Cloutier qualified for the All-State All-Academic team.

South Portland’s Katie Whitmore was selected as a semifinalist for the Miss Maine Basketball award, which was won by Greely’s Anna DeWolfe.
